about us
Irregolare is a design studio based in Venice, specialized in Product and Lighting Design.
Our studio is born from the desire to express a personal vision of design as a tool of storytelling. We always try to draw inspiration from what surrounds us, transposing our history – and that of our roots – into the products we make, always in a contemporary key.
We believe in an intimate and human relationship with design, based on direct experience of techniques and materials, experimentation and creativity constantly nourished by the sharing of ideas and co-design. We always plan with the aim of transforming an idea into a product that is both functional and communicative, accessible and of the highest quality.
Our creative studio can count on the twenty-year experience of the company from which it was born, in the field of lighting design and custom furniture. The products we design are all made internally in an artisan way: being in contact with the material and with the supply chain is fundamental for us and allows us to evolve our Design Process in a strategic way.
As designers, we are always happy to receive proposals and inputs, and to create connections.

Mauro Ferrandi
Founder
Born in Milan in 1964, he approaches the world of light when he is not yet of age, thanks to the family business – Oryon – dedicated to the manufacture of chandeliers and the sale of lighting fixtures. Later he obtained a specialization in the lighting engineering field at the University of Milan. In his career he collaborates with Italian and foreign architects, who will make a fundamental contribution to his training as a designer. In 2005 he founded Artificia Illuminazione, a company to which he dedicated himself until 2012, before starting the adventure of Irregolare. Today he dedicates himself to lighting design within the studio, and lives in Treviso.
Nicolò Zavagno
Founder
Venetian designer born in 1984, after years of experience in marketing he begins to collaborate with Artificia Illuminazione, where he discovers his passion for light. He then trained by obtaining several masters, which allowed him to specialize in the field of Lighting Design, graphics and virtual prototyping. For Artificia he developed his first collection, and in 2013 he founded – together with two partners – the Irregolare studio. Subsequently his personal project Zavagno Design Studio will be born. In his work, Nicolò Zavagno blends craft and manufacturing traditions of the Venetian territory with contemporary design, designing objects suspended between history and innovation.
